Our cosmetic surgery practice here in Coeur d’Alene always strives to offer a variety of ways for patients to look younger and more vibrant. Laser skin rejuvenation is getting a lot of attention lately — in particular, the PicoSure FOCUS™. If you haven’t heard about it yet, let me briefly go through strengths of this laser treatment. PicoSure FOCUS is designed to revitalize skin. Effective on any part of the body, FOCUS improves the quality and appearance of the skin. It is minimally invasive, and there is no downtime associated with treatments. It is only mildly uncomfortable during the treatment, and there is absolutely no pain after the treatment.
In short, it has all the qualities most everyone is looking for in a cosmetic treatment.
Reversing Skin Damage
As we age and expose our skin to various environmental elements that prematurely break down the collagen in our skin, the quality and appearance of the skin changes. Some of this is within our control (e.g., wearing sunscreen and big hats and refraining from smoking); other things are beyond our control (e.g., having birthdays). As these factors begin to have a cumulative effect over time, it’s important to have some tools to reverse these problems.
PicoSure FOCUS is a fractionated, 755-nanometer laser that delivers a photoacoustic impulse to the dermal-epidermal junction (i.e., where your layers of skin meet), forming a microscopic injury. This injury then stimulates surrounding inflammatory cells to release chemicals and stimulate repair. The most important of these is the stimulation of fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin. This novel wavelength and speed at which the impulse is delivered provides the impressive results.
Versatile and Efficient
So, what does this laser do? Almost everything. We are able to treat fine lines, wrinkles, unwanted brown spots, skin laxity, acne scarring, surgical or traumatic scars and stretch marks. And with a quick comfortable treatment, with no downtime, achieving excellent results, it’s no wonder why it’s such a popular treatment with our patients.
PicoSure FOCUS is just one of many laser treatments we offer. In addition to laser skin resurfacing, we also provide laser hair removal treatments, for example.
I would like to know what is involved in the trestment for stretch marks and melasma.
