This is a 50 year old woman who works as a teaching assistant and lives between Spokane, WA and Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. She was disappointed in the gradual change of the skin and additional fat in her neck. This appearance seems passed on as a family trait quite often. Most patients requesting improvement in the appearance of their neck seem to attribute the problem area to one of their parents. “I got this from my Dad,” as they pinch and wiggle the skin and fat beneath their chins. This patient was drawn to Smartlipo due to: “no cutting involved and permanent results”.Although there truly are no permanent results, our patients are seeing the benefits of their body sculpting and liposuction procedures for several years. Alternative treatments such as a neck lift or laser skin tightening are options, but removal of the heaviness of the fat with the tightening associated with the Smartlipo Triplex laser are recommended to give the patient results with minimal down time. The procedure was performed under tumescent anesthesia and mild oral sedation. Along with removal of fat from the neck, the jowls can also be effectively treated here in the Spokane and Coeur d’ Alene area with this technique. This patient’s recovery was uneventful. The photos shown are taken before the procedure and only 3 weeks after. The dramatic change mimics significant weight loss in spite of the fact only about 5 oz. of fat were actually removed. The procedure time was one hour and the patient returned to work in a few days. Some patients have mild bruising and the area can feel a little numb for a few weeks until the mild swelling of the tissues subsides.
